There are now an overwhelming number of portable vaporizers available on the market. But that doesn’t mean you should just buy the first one you come across. If you want to save yourself the trouble of going through a lengthy (and most probably expensive) trial-and-error process just to find the portable vaporizer that best serves your needs, then you’d do well to check out comprehensive reviews of the most popular vape models today.
Here, we take a closer look at the Pax by Ploom.
The Pax looks a bit like a tall lighter, with its mouthpiece hidden inside the unit, thereby keeping it compact. When you need to use it, you simply click the top of the mouthpiece to make it rise. It features three temperature settings from which you can choose: orange, yellow, and red. The red is the highest setting, which means it emits vapor quicker and gives you more vapor as well. When the unit is set on red, you get to use it for an hour straight before you have to recharge the battery. Charging takes about an hour.
Along with the unit, you get one AC wall charger dock, a cleaning kit that contains five pipe cleaners and five cleaning wipes, two packets of lubricant for the mouthpiece, and the instruction manual.
What to Like
Perhaps the best thing about the Pax is its portability and the ease of use. The unit is incredibly small and discreetly designed, so you can just pop it into your pocket and use it whenever and wherever you want. Everything that needs to be done with a vape—packing the chamber, setting the temperature, taking a draw, charging the unit, cleaning the unit—can be done easily with the Pax.
Another good thing about this unit is that it has a decent chamber despite its small size. In fact, it has a relatively big chamber when compared to other portable vaporizers. The design is also a huge plus. Who wouldn’t be happy with a device with a sleek design and artfully-placed LEDs? Even more importantly, the unit is very durable, as it still works perfectly even when dropped a number of times.
What Not to Like
One of the drawbacks of the Pax is the fact that it cannot be used while charging, unlike some of the other handheld vaporizers currently available. You therefore need to make sure it is always charged so you can use it whenever you need to.
A reminder: The Pax has become popular to a point where unscrupulous individuals have taken advantage and created knock-offs to sell at “discounted” rates. Note that though these imitations usually look exactly like the real thing, they do not perform as well as the original. So be sure to buy your vaporizer (regardless of whether you choose the Pax or another model) from an authorized dealer and be wary of vapes sold at extremely low prices.
The Pax by Ploom retails for $249.99. Overall, if you are after portability and you don’t mind vaping from a tin-like tube, the Pax is for you.
